After you have worked in a roles, you will have experienced good leaders and others that have not inspired you and left you frustrated.

This is the key attributes that I got when I asked the question "What are the traits of a good leader?"

- Approachable

- Listens and acts accordingly to what they hear

- Decisive and takes action

- Provides a purpose and clear direction

- Serves the team rather than expect the team to serve them.

- Knows their team members and what makes them tick

- Treats each team member as an individual

- Actions reflect their words

- Represents the team effectively to senior leadership

- Puts team first - has time or creates time for team members.

- Recognises the team and rewards them accordingly.

- Protects the team from blame when things go wrong, but credits them when things go right.

- Not afraid to be vulnerable and encourages it in others.

- Ensures that mistakes are a learning opportunity and doesn't apportion blame.

- Answers the “what’s in it for me?” question on behalf of their team members.

- Connects the business strategy with the purpose of the team.

- Creates a workplace which is enjoyable to work in.

- Ensures the team is both competent and allocates work according to their skills.

- Challenges team members to develop and push beyond their comfort zone.

- Recognises where individuals are psychosocially, and allocates work accordingly.
