What is Psychosocial Health and Safety?

Organisational behavioural scientist Amy Edmondson of Harvard first introduced the construct of “team psychological safety” and defined it as “a shared belief held by members of a team that the team is safe for interpersonal risk taking.” In simple terms, it’s where team members trust their leaders and colleagues and feel able to speak their mind to constructively improve the workplace and feel happy and purposeful at work.

What is People Focused Leadership?

People Focused Leadership is where the manager or leader considers the impact of the work on the wellbeing of the employee. Whilst the task in hand is important, it should not be carried out at the risk to the worker. The Health and Safety of the employee, both physically and mentally comes first.

What is ISO45003?

ISO45003 is an extension of ISO45001, which Is the international standard for Health and Safety in the Workplace. ISO45003 is specific to the Mental Health wellbeing of the workforce and sets out standards to follow to ensure best practice in an organisation. It was brought into circulation in June 2021.

What is the Worksafe NSW Code of Practice?

NSW was the first State to introduce a Code of Practice for Managing Psychosocial Hazards at Work in May 2021. It outlines the hazards and actions for organisations to follow to address Mental Health in the Workplace. Other States will follow in due course.
