I reviewed a set of General Management and other Senior Management positions on Seek and was interested in the content. Here is an example:-

The responsibilities of the role include:

- Ensuring change and risk management processes are conducted in consultation with key stakeholders and resources

- Represent the company and business unit at any high level events, marketing and other event applicable

- Full Business unit budget responsibilities, forecasts, performance and reporting to the board

- Oversee and undertake where necessary, sales, marketing, people & culture and HSE responsibilities and initiatives

To be successful in this role you will hold:

- A minimum of a Diploma in Business Administration

- A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role and responsibilities

There is nothing on leadership! On how to develop your team, or on how to motivate them to greater performance. On how to ensure that they are operating to their full potential.

If this is how a company measures success, then how do we ensure that leaders develop and look after their staff. By looking after the employees and creating a psychosocially safe workplace, the results and productivity of the teams are increased and all the above criteria are delivered and your business will thrive.

Have we got the focus wrong? If we start with the true people leadership skills, then the business results will quickly follow.
